Introducing Our Winter Soup Program: Providing Warm, Nutritious Meals Throughout the Cold Season

As the temperatures drop, Oakville Meals on Wheels is proud to share that our Soup to warm the Soul Program is now in operation, bringing warmth, nourishment, and care across our community during the coldest months of the year.

What the Soup Program is about

Every week, we deliver fresh, locally made soups to adults, seniors, and socially isolated individuals who may have difficulty going out for groceries or meals during harsh winter weather.

In partnership with Mo’s Family Restaurant, the same trusted supplier behind our Hot Meal Program, we’re able to offer delicious soups each week.

The program is currently being piloted in collaboration with Community Living Oakville. Once we are operating at full capacity, we will be providing approximately 90 soups each week, ensuring that Oakville’s most vulnerable residents have warm, comforting, ready-to-eat meals at home during the winter months.

All soups are delivered by our dedicated Meals on Wheels volunteers, whose friendly visits bring an extra touch of care to every delivery.

Supporting accessibility and inclusion

We’re also thrilled to be collaborating with Community Living Oakville to extend the program to individuals with developmental disabilities who live semi-independently and may experience mobility challenges.
Each soup comes with simple, easy-to-follow warming instructions, ensuring accessibility and confidence for all recipients.

Why it matters

A warm bowl of soup can be more than a meal, it can be a source of comfort, safety, and connection.
This program helps reduce the need for vulnerable individuals to travel outdoors during bad weather or flu season, while offering a small but meaningful reminder that someone is thinking of them.

Building community through care

The Soup to warm the Soul Program reflects our ongoing commitment to creating a more connected, compassionate Oakville.
Thanks to our local partners, volunteers, and supporters, we’re able to ensure that no one is left out in the cold this winter.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who helps make this program possible.
